About Lissa

I'm a mom of two toddlers, and by day, a graphic designer and illustrator at Melissa & Doug — where I get to think about learning through play for a living.

I've seen firsthand how a book or toy can light a kid up. Any kid—any age, any culture, any circumstance, is deserving of love, support, and a book that gets their imagination going. I believe the right amount of fostering in childhood is what turns children into humans who do good in their homes and communities.

Additionally, I've always been inspired by Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library — the idea that putting a book in a child's hands can change the shape of their life. That belief, plus watching my own kids fall in love with stories, is what pushed me to finally chase a dream I've had since I was a kid myself: becoming a published author-illustrator.

If you dig my work, I’d like to work with you.

The background features a wooden wall panel, a large green leafy plant, and a framed abstract art piece on the wall. Sunlight casts shadows on the wall.

My SECOND love—graphic design.

With a BS degree in graphic design and illustration, I started my career bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as a freelance graphic designer back in 2018! Over the decade—yes, I’m getting old—I have 10 years of professional experience in marketing, website design, prepress, and even product design.

With a wide diversity of clients, I’ve had the pleasure of working on some pretty exciting projects! Dabbling in animation, video editing, voice acting, and wannabe Instagram influencer, I often ask myself, what is life without learning a little bit of everything?
